Hello,
I ordered and started my first grow kit about 2 weeks ago. Today I will harvest for the first time, but I have two questions for the professionals among you:
1. what is the best way to clean the cake?
Simply remove all the mushroom remains and pins and then water? The cake is covered with a white layer of mycelium from which the mushrooms have sprouted and grown. Should I just leave it as it is or should this also be removed?
2. one instruction says water for 10 hours, the other says 10 hours. Which is correct?
There is a mushroom growing system in a store. Does this also work for magic mushrooms and if so, how do I use it correctly?
I always left the white fuzz on and only removed everything that was a fruiting body. I also always tried to work as quickly as possible with meticulously washed hands because of the risk of contamination.
I think this mushroom growing system is a kind of aquarium air pump that aerates and humidifies so that you no longer have to add water to the bag. But I haven't tested it myself yet.
@photon Thank you for your answer. How long do you water after harvesting?
if i remember correctly, it worked best when it was short, so let the water run in from the side (don't let the white fluff on top get wet) and after a few minutes tip the excess water out again from the side. I forgot once and the water stood there overnight and caused contamination.
The grow system works perfectly with the magic mushrooms and you can save yourself the trouble of watering. In my experience, however, it is better not to worry too much and 10 minutes or 20 hours often makes little difference. If the water has poison in it (germicide), 10 minutes is better, then less will break.
And that's right, damage the mycelium as little as possible, never remove it!
