What is the purpose of the aluminum foil over the lid?
Edit : I have already seen for myself that the aluminum foil provides additional protection against contamination when inoculating, because mold spores sometimes fly through the air.

The lids are not closed so that air can flow in. This means that little contamination gets in.
If the lids have inoculation holes or you want to put a mushroom cap (spore lid method) on them, the area is kept free of contamination.
