Information about the magic truffles

As there are always misunderstandings and questions about "moldy magic truffles, here is some important information:

The so-called "truffles" are not truffles and not mushrooms and not components of mushrooms, but sclerotia, i.e. vital giant spores.

They are lively and potent and so they do what spores do, namely they germinate and form the Zauherschimmel (which in turn can form the sclerotia).

It is not "moldy", it is simply the normal process of sclerotia, which sooner or later always happens with living sclerotia and is not a problem of any kind.

You can wash off the magic mold or eat it, it's genetically the same, but it contains no active ingredient and doesn't taste particularly good.

Although the packs are airtight, they are never vacuum-packed because they are living organisms full of water and a real vacuum would dry them out.

Sclerotia used to be shipped in ziplocks and the bags were always full of magic mold, which actually preserved them a little better - but people see that and don't understand that it's not rotting, but life and strength, so over time it has become accepted to pack them airtight, then germination only happens after a few weeks with an uninterrupted cold chain.

However, if the cold chain is interrupted, as in the case of shipping, this can happen after just a few days and does not reduce the effect.
