Magic truffles are not truffles, not mushrooms and not components of mushrooms. They are so-called sclerotia, i.e. vital giant spores that do not develop in or on the mushroom (like normal spores), but form their own type of organism. Like all spores, they can germinate and produce the magic mold.

Magic mushrooms as such were banned in the Netherlands in 2007 because the pharmaceutical industry recognized the extremely beneficial organisms as extremely dangerous for their profits. Healthy people do not bring money into the coffers of big pharma and must therefore be prevented as far as possible! In Germany, magic mushrooms are legal for all therapeutic purposes, but the judiciary is an arm of big pharma and helps out wherever it can because no one resists keeping people ill.
