How much should I microdose?

Everyone has their own personal feel-good dosage.

If you are unsure, start low - or start at a day off (or in the evening before going to bed).

In most cases, it is best to simply start low - for example with half of a classic microdose.

In concrete terms, this means that 0.5 g of fresh truffles correspond to around half of a standard 1 g micro-dose.

If you want to find your perfect dosage as quickly as possible, choose a time when you don't have to drive, work or interact with strangers and start with a full standard microdose.

Microdosing with mushrooms

If you have your own Cubensis mushrooms with a Growkit the quantity required is significantly lower.

About 0.1 g of dried magic mushrooms is considered a standard microdose.

Make sure to dry and pulverize your mushrooms carefully so that the active ingredients are evenly distributed. You should also put them in a Precision scales (don't worry - they are cheap).

When should I take my first microdose?

If possible, start on a quiet, relaxed day.

Most people benefit most if they take their microdose in the morning after breakfast. Simply swallow with a glass of water. If you use truffles: do not chew.

Alternatively, you can also take your first microdose one to two hours before going to bed.

Experiment carefully to see what time of day feels best for you.

In the morning after breakfast (so that digestion takes place slowly!) or in the evening before going to sleep - often combined with more intense dreams.
You can also divide the amount and take half in the morning and half in the evening.

How often should I microdose?

You will find different recommendations depending on the source. Many people start with a fixed protocol and later switch to a more intuitive dosage.

We recommend for psilocybin-containing mushrooms the rhythm „6 days on, 1 day off“. Important: This applies to a genuine micro can, i.e. quantities that do not directly affect you.

In this way, your nervous system receives continuous impulses and can regulate itself slowly and sustainably.

The break day serves as a reference to consciously perceive changes. It is not necessary in order to avoid tolerance - this only occurs at higher dosages.

The Stamets protocol recommends „4 days on, 3 days off“ and is aimed more at people who focus on boosting their mood and productivity than on in-depth regeneration.

There is also the Fadiman protocol „1 day on, 2 days off“. This was originally developed for LSD, where breaks are important to relieve the immune system.

What should I feel - and how quickly?

At first: nothing. At least in the first few days. A real microdose doesn't change your perception. You are completely sober, present and able to act - just a little more clearly tuned.

With the right dosage for you, you can experience the following:

  • sober
  • awake
  • light, carefree
  • emotionally aware

Microdosing develops its greatest effect over time. After a few weeks, the effects build up gently. Your body not only makes better use of the available resources - it also learns to use them more efficiently. So if you're wondering ...

How long can / should I microdose?

Your mind sets the limits here. Many people stop microdosing not because it stops working, but because the positive effects feel so natural.

Your body knows no limit beyond which psilocybin microdosing becomes „bad“ - because this limit does not exist.

So you can microdose for years without taking breaks. Many people do just that. However, interest often simply wanes over time.

Ideally, stick with it for at least 1-2 months before taking a break. Shorter periods often feel less sustainable and more random.

How can I tell if I am microdosing too high?

If you overdose, your body can go into increased regeneration processes - which can paradoxically make you feel worse.

Signs that you should reduce the dose may be:

  • Excessive emotionality
  • unusual sensitivity
  • Irritability or even anger
  • Tingling in hands or feet

Can I combine microdosing with medication?

Yes - but.

Only one genuine micro can is considered safe in combination with medication. A real microdose is so small that it No direct effects on your state of consciousness.

As soon as you go beyond this range, you should pay very close attention to possible interactions between medication and dosage.

This can also be reflected in the fact that side effects of your medication become more noticeable. For example, if you ...

Can I use microdosing to replace antidepressants?

Yes, many people successfully use psilocybin microdosing to gradually wean off antidepressants. However, this is not generally recommended by most psychiatrists. Keep that in mind.

If you decide to do this anyway, the following procedure makes the most sense for many people:

  1. Find your personal microdose. For people taking antidepressants, this may be higher than the standard - but only increase the amount slowly over several days.
  2. Continue your antidepressants unchanged until you have found a dosage of psilocybin that makes you feel stable (neither depressed nor „high“).
  3. Reduce the antidepressants Very slow.
  4. Gradually reduce the microdose (as you recover from the side effects of the antidepressants, your sensitivity will return - you will then need less).
